Take off Specialist/ Estimator

Overview The Specialist is responsible for completing accurate take-offs of piping and components per customer drawings to assist in completing a proposal on schedule. This includes organizing the take-off based on the direction of the team and entering the information into the Design Data List. A successful Take-Off Specialist will need to have good organizational skills. They will need to balance responsibilities through appropriate prioritization to ensure deadlines are met while following the processes and systems in place. This position will be a vital resource for the estimating team and will require a level of discretion and confidentiality. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include Read and follow piping drawings (isometrics, plans, field sketch, etc.) and PID for an accurate take-off. Establish preliminary design data sheet for the estimating team. Good communication skills to convey accurate information. Maintain files and accurately document all projects. Regularly review and remain current on Thermon products, Operating Procedures, Quality Procedures and Manufacturing Specifications. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. The ability to learn and grow. Qualifications Associates degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering Technology; such as electrical, mechanical or construction technology. Ability to read PID, piping isometrics, plan drawings, equipment detail and instrument details. Experience working with AutoCAD or other similar drafting software. Work experience in industrial estimating for electrical, mechanical or insulation installation and construction is a plus . Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Advance excel experience is a plus. Experience working with Navisworks or other similar 3D plant software is a plus Key Characteristics, Competencies and Skills Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines. Skill base should include good base in mathematics, critical thinking, writing, grammar, and communication. Knowledge and understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and requirements. Problem solving - identification of issues and systematic approach to solutions. Confident, self-assured, and optimistic about change management initiatives and ability to deliver superior results to the business. Good written and verbal communication skills.
