The school athletic trainers collaborate with each other, coaches, nurses, athletic administrators, and physicians to optimize the health and activity of student-athletes. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. The athletic trainer's responsibilities include injury/illness prevention and wellness protection; clinical evaluation and diagnosis; providing immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation; and ensuring organizational and professional health. The athletic trainer's work should promote a student-centered culture of growth and support the school's mission to challenge and nurture all students. The athletic trainer will work primarily with the 6th-12th grade student population. This position reports to the Athletic Director. About You We seek a trainer whose professional experience and personal qualities prepare them to: Work closely with all members of the athletic department to provide resources for our students and community to support their growth and well-being in athletics including strength and conditioning training, nutrition, wellness and rehab. Provide daily care and prevention to all members of our community within athletics and provide rehabilitation plans for recovery. Attend athletic contests directed by Athletic Director to provide sufficient support to the athletic program In our review of applications, we will prioritize candidates who demonstrate the following competencies: Passionate about athletics and the positive impact they can have on the broader educational experience Strong values and ethics Initiative Strong communication skills Deeply committed to student-athlete well-being and success, on and off the field Excellent organizational and multitasking skills Team orientation: willing and able to work flexible hours, including a consistent expectation to regular supervision of evenings and weekend activities, to support our athletic programs The Episcopal Academy seeks candidates who help foster a school environment where all people are valued and where all perspectives are respected and appreciated, as described in our Diversity and Inclusion statement . Qualifications Valid state license to practice as a certified athletic trainer within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 3-5 years of experience at the high school or college level. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Athletic Training Program. Valid certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Valid CPR certification. Maintaining continuing education units as required by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Experience in the use of electronic medical records preferred Anticipated start date: August 2023
