Department: Athletics Official Title: Graduate Assistant for Student-Athlete Academic Support/CAUSE Number of Individuals With the Job Description: One Organizational Unit/Department: Athletics Work Location: Athletics, AWC, and/Off-site venues Title of Immediate Supervisor: Director of Student-Athlete Success & Community Engagement & CAUSE Director Title of Other Positions ReportingTo This Position: CAUSE student workers Purpose of Position: Under supervision, the Graduate Assistant for Student-Athlete Academic Success/Center for Allied and Unified Sport and Exercise (CAUSE) provides support of Daemen Athletics student-athlete academic support and oversight of programing and operations for CAUSE sessions. The selected applicant will receive a tuition waiver for up to 18 graduate credits for the 2023-2024 academic calendar year. The applicant will be responsible for the costs of any fees associated with the program. This position is renewable for the next academic year conditional upon satisfactory performance, availability of funds and adherence to all Daemen University academic requirements and employment protocols. Tasks/Duties Performed: Athletics- Academic Support Services: Proctors study hall sessions one day per week and one Sunday evening per month, and as needed for fill-in Track study hall hours of Student-Athletes and provide weekly updates to coaches Hold scheduled office hours to assist with assigned academic duties Coordinate and schedule student-athlete volunteers at CAUSE sessions. Work with Director of SA Academic Success to design and/or implement workshops on various skills to improve academic performance When assigned, provide 1:1 support of student-athletes in various levels of academic concern Oversee Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) / Schedule and assist with the facilitation of these regular meetings for the academic year Solicit, organize and facilitate community service SAA or Division-wide events, as needed Assist in transporting student-athletes to Community Service events when necessary Other duties as assigned..... CAUSE: Serves as the main contact for CAUSE session programming and operations Develop weekly plans/activities for Sunday and weekday evening sessions Oversees all preparation and on-site Sunday and weekday activities Manages service learning student attendance Assist the Director and Coordinator in the management and distribution of social media and website content. Oversee participant weekly registration and communication with parents Work with CAUSE Coordinator to manage inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment Assist with CAUSE special events Conduct weekly meeting with CAUSE student workers Assist in providing weekly and summary reports as requested Other duties as assigned... Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work with a diverse population including individuals with disabilities. Ability to work both traditional and non-traditional business hours including Sundays and evenings. Ability to receive telephone calls/emails, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone/email. General interest in sports and a working knowledge of rules and regulations for various sports Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications. Strong writing skills. Proficient in the use and maintenance of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. Valid driver's license and the ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of university business on a regular basis. Experience planning or operating activities and events.
