Under the direction of the Program Director, the Child Watch Leader is responsible for supervising children in our Child Watch program while members are working out. A Child Watch Leader must have the willingness to project the YMCA representation by personal adherence to all policies and must exemplify the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA values of Faith, Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. This employee must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, weekends or holidays as needed. Must adhere to Risk Management and safety practices; be courteous and respectful to all staff and participants. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Provide safe and fun childcare for members and their children Ability to plan and initiate age-appropriate games and activities Ensure children are properly supervised at all times Relate to children, members, and staff in a positive manner Develop and maintain relationships with parents in the Kidzone program Report all injuries and unsafe conditions by completing an incident report immediately and submitting it to your supervisor Meet all YMCA program standards and follow all safety procedures Properly clean toys and equipment daily and assist in ensuring program areas are safe Required Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age Must pass TB test before beginning Kidzone duties Must have dependable transportation Knowledge of child development and positive discipline techniques is a plus Excellent verbal communication skills Must have strong skills in relationship building Must pass Criminal Background Check Ability to meet the needs of members Must be able to work effectively with a diversity of people, different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and all ages. Interacts regularly with parents, volunteers, and staff Must have and maintain current CPR Pro/AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens training and other trainings required.
