QUALIFICATIONS: Education: No minimum requirements ? high school diploma or GED preferred Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: The ability to learn the methods and techniques of cleaning and maintaining the school building, to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and to lift 50 pounds or less REPORTS TO: Custodian Supervisor RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of the custodian are such as those in the list given below, but they may be increased, decreased, and otherwise modified. Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation of school by performing such duties as: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors Cleaning windows, blinds, light fixtures, etc. Cleaning restrooms, water fountains, and other sanitary facilities May be required to clean up body waste or body fluid spillage Disposal of all garbage and refuse Wears appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment as required by the job Operation, maintenance, and care of custodial tools, equipment, machinery, and supplies Reports immediately to the supervisor any damage to school property or any major repairs that are needed Reports immediately to the supervisor any accident or hazardous condition Knowledge of the location of emergency equipment, first aid kits, and emergency numbers Attends all trainings, meetings, workshops and in-service education activities as required by supervisor Complies with requests from the principal and other school personnel that are within the scope of custodial job description Exhibits courtesy and a professional attitude at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, and the public Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance Maintains confidentiality and professionalism regarding students and school system affairs Works effectively and cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and staff
