Substance Abuse Counselor - Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) About River Edge Behavioral Health Serving more than 10,000 Georgians, River Edge continues to be one of the state's leading resources for mental health, substance use disorder treatments and supports as well as individuals with intellectual and development disabilities. The full continuum of River Edge Behavioral Health services provides state-of-the-art treatment and support services for more than 13,000 children, youth, families and adults annually, who experience mental illness, addiction, co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a highly intensive, outreached based, out of clinic, service provided by a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Population targeted is individuals who have serious and persistent mental illness and some have a co-occurring diagnosis of substance abuse. These are individuals who do not typically come into a clinic setting for traditional treatment. The ACT Team takes the treatment services to them in their homes, shelters, sidewalks, etc. We are currently seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor for our ACT Program. Location/Schedule: Baldwin County site; Mon- Fri 8:30a to 5:00p with 1-2 nights and 1-2 weekends on call. Duties & Responsibilities: Provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families, participates in treatment team planning, and performs crisis intervention. Assists in dealing with personal and social problems. May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services. May perform case management duties, and group skills training with adolescents. Provide assessment/evaluation as it pertains to substance use disorder(s) and co-occurring needs. Provide individual counseling, group/family counseling/training to clients seeking treatment for substance use disorders. Complete insurance authorization documentation as required to ensure all services are authorized. Document all services the same day the service(s) were provided. Adhere to all federal, state, and regulatory ethical/legal guidelines as a substance abuse counselor. Minimum Training & Experience: High school diploma or GED and two years' experience in a social services related position. or Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a social services related field (social work, sociology, psychology, etc.). Required Qualifications: MUST have a CACII certification Fully COVID Vaccinated. All applicants must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.
