We currently have an opening for a Metrology Technician on 1st shift. Pay: Starting at $30.00 per hour, based on experience Hours: 7am-3:30pm SUMMARY Support the organization's business strategy by knowing/understanding internal/external expectations, complying with the quality and environmental systems, and implementing/executing/maintaining continual improvement activities. This position has significant technical responsibility requiring Metrology knowledge to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment. Perform dimensional analysis of parts, implements, verifies and provides follow-up to the various day-to-day functions of the established Quality System. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform FAI's and capability studies using CMM, Vision System, Micrometers, Pins, and other applicable measuring equipment. Prepare FAI reports and ballooned drawings for PPAP submissions. Perform Gage R& R studies. Analyze measurement data, Identify/correct measurement errors, as applicable and note any abnormalities, trends seen. Work with Engineering Team(s) to determine possible tool modifications based upon layout data. Create and maintain work instructions related to part measurement. Additional projects may be assigned by the Quality Assurance Engineer or Quality Assurance Manager. QUALIFICATIONS Experience with basic measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, optical comparator) Optical Gauging Product Optical Machine and CMM. Use of CAD data to start programing prior to receiving physical parts. Intermediate computer skills. Able to read and interpret Blueprints. Thorough working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) standards such as those scripted by ISO (International Standards Organization) or ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers). Understanding of statistical methods in Quality Assurance. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree from four-year college/university or high school diploma/GED certificate; three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including technical writing. Experience in a fast-paced office environment. Knowledge of Quality Management systems (IATF16949, ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025). Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong attention to detail. LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Bilingual English/Spanish is beneficial. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as means, averages, ranges, and SPC, CPK's and CP's. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
