Position: Dean of Academics Bethany School seeks a Dean of Academics to start July 1, 2023. This full-time, salaried, administrative position reports to the Head of School, serves on the leadership team of the school, and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school, including curriculum, instruction, and faculty development. The Dean of Academics ensures that all academic activities of the school are aligned with the school's stated mission. Compensation includes competitive salary and benefits commensurate with education, training, and experience. Roles and Responsibilities Serves as the academic leader of the school Responsible for master course scheduling, monitoring student academic progress, bringing together the appropriate teams to address student academic achievement and/or progress Curates and coordinates the ongoing process of curriculum oversight Coordinates regular textbook reviews Convenes the faculty team leaders, faculty mentors, and new faculty members for regular planning and check-in meetings dealing both with routine school matters and broader issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern Oversees assessment methods and processes, as well as the alignment in measuring and reporting student achievement and coordinates the report card and comment writing processes Provides ongoing professional development opportunities for the faculty Consults with and coaches teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures Responsible for connecting the school, the Ohio Department of Education, and the Princeton School District to maintain local, state, and federal standards and facilitate licensure, accreditation, and compliance with legal requirements Observes, supervises, and helps evaluate the faculty in the development and implementation of the school's curriculum Reviews and evaluates the school's academic programs Recommends the hiring, assignment, and retention of faculty members Assists in maintaining a comprehensive calendar of school events, in the planning and presentation of school assemblies and programs, and in informing the entire school community of various school programs and activities Supports the admission process through testing, interviewing, and evaluating applicants for enrollment. Oversees and coordinates school-wide assessments and standardized testing Serves as the point person and coordinator in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School Qualities and Qualifications Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion Proactive, creative, ethical systems thinker and decision-maker Positive, collaborative colleague with active listening skills, a sense of humor, and genuine humility High level of integrity and ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information Love of children in grades K-8 and possess a willingness to participate fully in the life of the School Advanced communication, organization, and presentation skills Proficient knowledge of computer software and systems needed to work most efficiently, e.g. Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Blackbaud, etc. 4-year degree in education or other related area (required) Advanced degree in education or other related area, e.g. MA, MEd, EdS (preferred) 5+ years teaching experience (required) 3+ years administrative experience (preferred) Compensation and Benefits Salary commensurate with experience.
