Phoenix Rising Recovery is seeking a Cook for our Residential Treatment Programs in Palm Desert! Summary: The Cook is responsible for healthy meal planning, food service, preparation, and clean up in our residential treatment centers. The Cook maintains safety and sanitation and communication with the Program Director of the treatment centers. The Cook also ensures all safety and health standards for the kitchen and ensures that all Joint Commission standards are upheld. The Cook must be knowledgeable in meeting varied dietary needs and be sensitive to the emotional well-being of clients in residence. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Budgeting & Shopping for all Kitchen related needs. Create and maintain menu records Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces and utensils. Prepare and cook meals that are nutritional and meet the needs of all clients. Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas. Operate cooking equipment such as grills, griddles, ovens. Pre-cook items when needed. Prepare and serve beverages such as coffee and Tea Prepare specialty foods following specific methods that usually require short preparation time Read or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron and prepare and cook food according to instructions. Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity Wash, cut and prepare foods designated for cooking. Clean, stock, and restock workstations Requirements: Knowledge of Addiction Recovery preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent. Food Handler's Certification prior to start Valid California driver's license - position requires driving. Current TB test clearance (must be renewed yearly). Current and Valid CPR and First Aid Certification on file (must be renewed yearly). Ability to pass Criminal Background check Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and in some instances up to 40 pounds Previous experience with Substance Abuse Treatment highly preferred. Experience preparing meals in a residential setting preferred. Hiring Requirements: Hiring is contingent upon completion of a TB test, and clearance on a drug screen and pre-employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain upon hire. For the mental health program additional requirements include receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance or an exemption and a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508). Renewal Health Group requires employees to be vaccinated with exceptions only as required by law (i.e. medical or religion).
