Title: Mental Health Counselor Level I (Inpatient) Description: This is an entry level position well-matched for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the mental health field. The Social Services Counselor is part of the inpatient Social Services clinical team and provides supportive counseling in individual and group formats to children, adolescents and adults receiving care in an inpatient psychiatric setting. The position provides supportive counseling in individual and group formats and is an active and valued member of the care team for our adult and child/adolescent inpatient psychiatric units. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the human services or social science field 1-year related experience, preferably in an inpatient psychiatric hospital/inpatient unit. Responsibilities: Plans and implements quality structured leisure opportunities for individuals in care. Collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that therapeutic and meaningful activities are provided during day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Works collaboratively with team members to assist with group and milieu therapies. Observes and analyzes participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed.
