Description:
This is a Machine Operator position at our Clarksburg, WV plant for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Insure the correct coil is being installed on payoff mandrel. Helper cuts sample after removing defective and out of specification metal from tail of coil. Writes coil ID, OD, master coil number, and shop order number on sample. If excessive wraps are removed to get in tolerances and past defects, notify supervisor and record on operations recovery form (QF 824-1-3 Rev. A). Follow instructions on back Set coil pass line according to the slitter head set-up After material is manually feed into machine, tape tails of coils to cores with tape requested from customer to avoid slipping. Check edges for burr or defects from slitter knives. Notify operator if out of specification. Place felt/lube sticks on knives with appropriate lubrication for customer. As machine begins to run, use cleaning pole with sandpaper to clean debris from rolls. Visually inspect coil surface for defects while running coil, communicate to operator if any. After coil is ran to correct size and machine is disengaged, crop coil tail and securely tape using specified tape per customer. Unload drum/coil from payoff using coil cart. If any excess material losses report on operations recovery form (QF 824-1-3 Rev. A) and notify operator. Normal head and tail loses over planned recovery: .040 is 10%. Positions overhead crane and hooks up cables to slitter head, and rewind mandrels Lift slitter head from bed and transport to set up bed Positions overhead crane to previously set up head and transport to and positions on slitter bed Complete connection to slitter by reversing above steps on head on setup bed Cross train in Slitter Operator duties as time allows Complete all paperwork/reporting Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned Comply with the Company's quality management system requirements Willingness to cross train Advocate for continuous improvement projects COMPETENCIES High school diploma or equivalent Strong communication skills Willingness to work with others as a team Forklift Certification Ability to use and understand precision measurement instruments Ability to understand and follow safety practices and work instructions
