TRENTON SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Community Connection Specialist for 2023-2024 School Year Peabody High School 2020 TSIN STEM Designated School Term of Employment: Two Hundred Twenty (220) Days Contract Immediate Supervisor: CTE Director / Building Principal Qualifications: Certified Teacher, Tennessee Licensure, Minimum of Bachelor's Degree Classroom Teaching Experience Required Must be able to relate well to students, adults and the community and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the Trenton Special School District policies and philosophy. Skills: Be a mature individual Have the ability to conform to an established work schedule Have effective interpersonal skills Have the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner Have the ability to understand and follow instructions precisely Have the ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality Have the ability to work with students Have the ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without the loss of efficiency or composure. Responsibilities of Community Connection Specialist: Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following : Planning and implementing the daily program using current state standards Planning and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies. Supervise the classroom Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the District at all times Treat all children with dignity and respect Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children. Maintain a neat and organized work area. Supervise activities to ensure safety at all times. Work with CTE Director and teachers to provide career exploration to middle and high school students. Work with teachers and school counselors to oversee the administration of career exploration programming. Assist in the scheduling of guest speakers for career awareness. Work with school counselor and teachers to ensure needed employability and technical skills are being taught in the classroom. Assist CTE teachers, high school and middle school counselors in teaching career and work ethic skills in the classroom. Stay informed of local labor market needs. Regularly attend Workforce Development meetings Regularly attend Trenton Rotary meetings Provide 1:1 counseling for students who are likely to utilize the work-based learning and PHS Connect program. Meet with parents of interested students to explain the PHS Connect program. Assist in the course selection process for students utilizing the PHS Connect program. Assist in work-based learning placement for students. Assist in the development of student resumes and interview skills. Maintain program documentation for work-based learning and PHS Connect students. Oversee the Early College High program/Dual Enrollment Facilitate class scheduling in conjunction with the PHS school counselor Monitor progress of students enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program Facilitate logistics for students enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program Facilitate the completion of scholarship applications Serve as an advisor for students enrolled in college courses Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to : In case of an emergency, must be able to lift or assist in lifting a student in need Work outdoors in any variety of weather Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping Climb up and down stairs Have mobility required to ensure the safety of children Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of students Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities General Requirements: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position.
