The City of O'Fallon is looking for a Marketing and Events Student Recreation Intern in our Recreation Department for the spring/summer of 2023. I deal candidates have a passion for content creation and event execution and thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. This intern reports to the Festival Manager and will actively contribute to the annual marketing and event plans for the summer season. We anticipate this intern maintaining a flexible schedule and working up to 20-25 hours per week. This position does require evenings, weekends and holiday hours. Working outside in various weather conditions may also apply. Marketing Responsibilities Support Community Engagement Coordinator in social media and content development. Assist with photo/video content shoots. Create compelling graphics to share across media platforms (Facebook and Instagram). Other duties as assigned. Event Responsibilities Assisting in the preparation and set up of festival and event ground for large events such as Heritage and Freedom Festival, Jammin' Concerts, Food Truck Events, and others as assigned. Researching and preparing for festivals and events. Assisting vendors during events. Providing customer service to patrons. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Must have or be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a similar field. Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Skills in Adobe Creative Suite or Canva. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must possess knowledge and competence with latest social media trends. 100% professional, flexible, self-starter and reliable. Creative and use to out-of-the-box thinking. Applicants must: Have a valid driver's license This opportunity is designed to provide knowledge and experience in working in the Recreation field within municipal government operations. The position plays an important role in performing administrative and technical work in the analysis and development of programs, services, systems, policies and procedures. Our Recreation Interns earn $13.55 hourly. We're looking for someone who has the desire to use their knowledge of recreational programming to assist in evaluating and planning programming at the Renaud Center. This person should be enrolled in a college or university in the final year of a program leading to a degree in recreation or a closely related field. An accredited program is preferred. He or she should also have the flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. As a Student Recreation Intern, your duties and responsibilities will include : Assist ing in the development of short- and long-range plans; including, gather ing , interpret ing , and prepar ing data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinat ing activities with other departments and agencies, as needed. Plan ning a career in a field th at studies problems and procedures such as organizational change, communications, information flow, integrated production methods, or cost analysis. Review ing and evaluat ing programs and services to determine how well they meet the mission of the Renaud Center . This includes organizing and documenting results of studies and preparing recommendations for the implementation of new systems, procedures or organizational changes. Analyzing data gathered and developing information to present to others, including supervisors, boards, commissions and the general public . Preparing recommendations regarding proposals for programs, grants, services, budget, equipment, etc. Develop ing or updat ing functional or operational manuals outlining established methods of performing work in accordance with organizational policy. Investigat ing and follow ing -up on citizen requests for service, complaints, and requests for information, as assigned. Attend ing meetings, seminars, and workshops related to administrative duties and responsibilities. Could this be the opportunity for you?
