As a full-time Social Services Assistant Director at Fedcap, Inc. in New York, NY, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the community by helping formerly incarcerated individuals rebuild their lives through workforce development and vocational rehabilitation. You will work on-site at Rikers Island to provide guidance and support to our clients. DAY-TO-DAY FOR A SOCIAL SERVICES ASSISTANT DIRECTOR As the Social Services Assistant Director for our nonprofit, you play a critical role in ensuring the success of our organization. Your responsibilities encompass a wide range of duties, including the implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with DOC and other state regulations, assessing site operations, and overseeing the quality of our services. Your leadership is evident in many areas, such as logistics, staffing, client flow, and room scheduling. You are responsible for implementing and directing the employment-focused approach for all program components and you work closely with employment works leadership specialists, job developers, and administration. As part of your role, you train and guide the service site team and staff, motivating them and promoting a high-energy, highly accountable, team-centered culture. You must be diligent in observing all DOC policies and procedures, measuring results against standards, and making necessary adjustments. Additionally, your role involves recruiting, training, and orienting administrative support employees. To stay current in the field of vocational rehabilitation and workforce development, you maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Furthermore, you analyze site data and metrics to identify areas for improvement in performance and efficiency, a critical component of our program's success. Your contributions are instrumental in making our nonprofit program a success, and knowing that your work has a positive impact on the lives of people in need gives you a sense of pride and fulfillment in your work! WHAT YOU NEED TO BE A SOCIAL SERVICES ASSISTANT DIRECTOR 7+ years of related public health, workforce development, social services, vocational rehabilitation, or professional experience, including 4+ years in a management or supervisory role Experience working in correctional institutions, with the formally incarcerated, public assistance recipients, homeless, or those affected by the challenges associated with poverty Strong leadership skills Covid-19 vaccination A master's degree in social work or a related field is preferred. To be successful in this vocational rehabilitation and workforce development role, you need strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, the ability to synthesize information, and excellent interpersonal skills.
