System Support Engineer

General Summary This position is focused on the analysis and improvement of overall system productivity. This is accomplished by analyzing and eliminating sources of faults and production shortcomings by means of extensive system research. Process Engineering, PLC, and Controls knowledge will be required to be successful in this position. There is a heavy emphasis for this position to take the lead in a system ramp-up environment to optimize system availability while minimizing the timeline to full equipment utilization. Primary Responsibilities Partner with our European counterparts to ensure maintenance strategies are in alignment. Focuses on tracking and resolving technical issues that may be present. Collects and analyzes data related to productivity losses, fault occurrences, and fault duration. Works with the Master Data team to optimize productivity while minimizing losses. Coaches' employees when opportunities present themselves. Works with Europe & Engineer Leader to resolve damage reports and PLC change requests. Coordinate all PLC / Controls / Electrical changes with helpdesk and project team. Uses various tools to track performance issues within a site and takes action to resolve problems. Familiarity and ability to use and conduct research within our Witool CMMS platform. Ability to form strategic action plans on multifaceted and often complex system performance issues. Works with Europe on forming obsolescence contingencies and works with Training Team to form courses on obsolescence improvements. Education & Experience 5 + Years of experience in the following: Leadership of service and maintenance in production environments that utilize a range of mechanical automation and material handling equipment. Extensive electrical and computer knowledge with a heavy focus on control systems and PLCs. Preferred: Associates degree or Certificate in a relevant subject with 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory role in a fast-paced warehouse, light industry, or related environment Familiarity with automated material handling systems strongly preferred Must possess or be able to obtain a PLC / Computer Science professional certificate of training. Skills and Knowledge Ability to coordinate and supervise a team of frontline workers Knowledge and basic skills in Lean Manufacturing and Project Management. Strong understanding of automated material handling systems Knowledge of wiring diagrams and electrical measuring Familiarity and/or experience with: Electrics/mechanics in drive technology (motors/gears) Control technology (controls/inverters) 3 Phase 480v, DC and 24v Control PLCs (Siemens S5, Siemens S7 & Beckhoff) Advanced skills in computer literacy DCS systems Advanced skills in electrical troubleshooting Advanced skills in wire diagrams Root cause analysis Familiarity with basic logistics and supply chain principles Analytical and problem-solving skills Able to prioritize multiple tasks and workload Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Knowledge of OSHA Safety guidelines Extensive maintenance knowledge including job planning and coordination Travel This position will require the availability to travel. Travel will be scheduled with the supervisor and will be based on job requirement Scheduling & Availability Must be able to work all shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Must be available by phone 24/7 in the event of irregular operations and/or escalation Physical Requirements Ability to work in cold environments Ability to work at heights of 80-100 feet Ability to walk/stand during a designated shift Lifting, pulling and pushing up to 50 pounds Job Posted by ApplicantPro
