Schuyler Hospital is seeking a full time Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA). The candidate will be Responsible for providing medical care to all patients on the Medical Surgical unit, to include admitting history and physical, placing orders as clinically indicated, daily rounds, patient education and counseling, interacting with patients and family members, discharges and referrals for post discharge medical needs. The APP participates in the identification of quality and performance improvement initiatives on the unit and supports implementation, tactics and achievement of desired results. The APP works under direct supervision of a physician following established guidelines as required and within established scope of practice. The APP will also be responsible for coordinating consultation with specialist(s) as needed. Position Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Masters degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner's Program. National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or certification eligible. Certification must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment. OR Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program. Certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants within one year of hire unless otherwise approved by the Medical Director. Current registration in good standing by the NYS Department of Professional Licensing Services. AND Current BCLS Certification. Current ACLS Certification. Current PALS Certification. Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Skills: Basic computer knowledge. Able to perform minor office surgeries, apply casts and splints, suture lacerations. Physical Demands: Skin integrity must be intact, and be able to tolerate frequent handwashing and glove usage.
