The Building Automation Specialist II (BAS2) reports to the Manager of Building Automation & Controls and is responsible for performing a range of Controls jobs for industrial and commercial customers. Customer based activities involved in this position require an individual who is decisive, tactful, dependable, and who possesses initiative and the ability to communicate well with all customer and supervisory groups. A BAS2 must be able to accurately diagnose and efficiently accomplish a job to the mutual benefit of the customer and CES. Job related contact could occur with virtually all demographic groups, with the majority of the contacts being service and construction customers, Project Managers, as well as other CES employees. Daily job stress will range from minimal to extreme, based on such factors as the weather, site consideration, time constraints, sales potential, travel requirements, job complexity, and customer needs. An average workday will be moderately stressful. Essential duties and responsibilities: Serving as a member of the Service Department Team to conduct Controls servicing of jobs, as well as construction controls start up and commissioning promptly and efficiently. Performing DDC Control service and construction activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance. Troubleshoots and effectively diagnoses and repairs inoperative systems and devices. Programming application specific controllers and ancillary devices. Setting up and programming system supervisory controllers and front end equipment, including, but not limited to, line code and graphics. Commissioning systems and performing point to point checks. Conducting point-of-work sales for added control services, unit components, unit replacements, control system upgrades, HVAC sales leads, and commercial service contracts. Performing related duties as directed by the Manager, Building Automation & Controls. Keeping vehicle in clean condition at all times and using vehicle only for company use. Drive safe at all times and not utilizing the cellular phone while driving. Education and Experience High school graduate. Three or more years of successful experience, either as a commercial controls service or installation technician. Good verbal and reading skills include the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions and to clearly communicate with customers, suppliers, and other CES employees. Ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints, control drawings, and specifications. Job knowledge, skills and abilities Physical ability to: Perform all duties noted above under the conditions, circumstances, and extreme weather conditions found in Florida. Possess good vision (either naturally or with correction). Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 60 pounds frequently. Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Climb and balance on ladders and stand for long periods of time. Must not have fear of heights (acrophobia). Computer Skills: Possess basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel. Possess in depth knowledge of manufacturers control system software such as Niagara AX and Niagara 4. Personal Protective Equipment Safety glasses required while performing certain tasks Interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing his or her DDC skills through a combination of self-study, company training, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development activities. Current Florida operator's license and the ability to operate all vehicles in the company fleet within 30 days of initial employment. Incumbent must be insurable at all times by current CES insurance carrier. Ability to work under pressures of time, a non-standard schedule, weather, customer needs and backlog constraints.
