Position Summary Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for general accounting duties including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations related to payroll for Fresh Express, Bruce Church and Transfresh. This position requires solid understanding of payroll accounting concepts and their application, ability to review and analyze information, and develop an understanding of the business and the financial reporting for the business. Projects involve implementation of processes to support changing business needs and internal control compliance. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for timely and accurate month-end accounting close and associated tasks. Prepare monthly variance analysis reports. Prepare payroll related account reconciliations and review General Ledger account balances for compliance with GAAP and internal controls. Monitor changes in the business and the accounting transactions for improved reporting and accuracy of financials. Work with Controllers and Tax departments for disclosure items. Respond to requests from internal and external auditors. Provide financial support to the business through teamwork with analysts to provide meaningful information and reporting of the business. Identify, communicate, and recommend solutions for payroll accounting issues and problems. Seek opportunities to streamline and improve accounting transactions and work with the business to provide accounting and analytical support to meet internal customer needs. Investigate troubled accounts, communicate problems and provide solutions. Prepare monthly leasing schedules Be able to deliver under pressure for deadlines Ability to manipulate large amounts of data Ad hoc reports as needed Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 3+ years General Accounting experience including Payroll accounting. A basic understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills; with responsive feedback at all times. Microsoft Excel skills to include VLOOKUP, pivot table, external linking, and respect for proper database management and accuracy to ensure data quality and integrity. Strong PC skills including working knowledge of Excel and ERP software. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and application. Must have the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism. Strong attention to detail and a desire to assume new responsibilities. Organization, attention to detail and the ability to analyze data. Working knowledge of payroll process including payroll tax reporting Required Education and Experience Strong written and verbal communication skills. Raw / Food Industry experience is a plus Language Requirements: English, Spanish knowledge helpful Physical Requirements Rarely (0-12%) Occasionally (13 33%) Frequently (34-66%) Regularly (67-100%) Seeing: Must be able to read reports and use a computer x Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with others and talk on the phone. x Standing/Walking x Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling x Lifting/Pulling/Pushing x Fingering/Grasping/Feeling Must be able to write, type file, turn pages and use phone system x Working Conditions General business office environment with open work areas.
