Middle & Upper School Spanish Teacher This is a full-time position teaching in both the Middle and Upper Divisions reporting to the Head of the Upper School. The Shipley School seeks a qualified candidate for the position starting August 15th, 2023 to support our Middle and Upper School program . The ideal candidate will: Have experience teaching Spanish to middle school-aged students (Grades 6, 7, 8) and command of appropriate L2 strategies Have experience with literature-based instruction to upper-school-aged students (grades 9-12) Have experience in immersion-based teaching (100% target language) and appropriate L2 strategies Demonstrate the ability to execute lessons using authentic literature, games, and songs Demonstrate knowledge of Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) techniques and engage multiple modalities so that students can retain information An ability to also teach French would be wonderful. Successful applicants should possess the following qualifications: Superior level of proficiency in Spanish Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor Excellent speaking and writing skills 3-5 years' teaching experience preferred BA in Education or related field; (MA in Spanish, Foreign Language instruction or a related field not required but preferred) Knowledge of French would be a wonderful addition Shipley and Its Commitment to Equity The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling approximately 800 students in grades Pre-K through 12.
