Principal Objectives/Purpose The ACYR team builds pathways to success through education, skill building and employment opportunities to help youth and young adults reach self-sufficiency. The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of positivity, growth mindset, and hospitality by offering high-energy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment. Every member of the team is charged to build relationships and trust with youth and young adults to maintain relationships that foster them continuing in their planned services. Our team also serves as an integral component with connecting to our community and spreading/demonstrating the mission of ACYR. Responsible for providing instruction to prepare participants to successfully complete a high school equivalency diploma or skills program and transition to career pathways and/or post-secondary education. Key Result Areas Follow ACYR Adult Education procedures for attendance, student enrollment, assessments, curriculum, and classroom instruction, and management. Are aware of ADE - AES (Arizona Department of Education - Adult Education Services) goals and targets; strive to meet or exceed these goals Participate in TABE and CLAS-E (Test of Adult Basic Education) training provided by ADE AES Progress and Exit test students at appropriate intervals using TABE and/or CLAS-E Report all TABE data to Data Entry Specialist and Data and Student Service Coordinator Keep accurate daily attendance and submit weekly to Data Entry Specialist and submit sign-in sheets monthly Add appropriate resources to ACYR curriculum as found and/or developed to share with staff Research and share classroom management and instructional best practices Use of calendar, task and other accountability tools to create efficiencies, goals and performance goals. Calendar is organized and meetings are manageable to ensure ample time for meetings and other projects. Schedules meetings as soon as possible or as directed by Adult Education Manager. Sends emails to team or other ACYR staff as per Adult Education Manager guidance within timeframe given Providing effective classroom management and instruction. Create lessons that comply with the ADE Standards and lead to participants' academic progress Connect students to leadership opportunities (Ambassador training for AALL) Respect students as individual young adults Set SMART goals with students and include as an on-going part of class Participate in Professional Learning Communities and Professional Development as directed for ABE Program or ACYR Development of community partnerships engage and retention strategies to meet participants needs. Contact students who have stopped attending class and attempt to re-engage Recruit for potential participants Follow up with students who have exited the program and report findings to Adult Education Manager Ensure participants are connected to appropriate community support Collaborate with other ACYR program managers to ensure ABE participants have access to work trainings and job opportunities Supporting the vision and direction of ACYR's Administration Team. Attend all ABE Program meetings Attend and engages in activities and events at the direction of the Administration Team to support the ACYR vision and mission. Participate in and request professional development training Engages in appropriate ACYR social media for events directly, and/or through contact with Media Relations Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Must have or ability to obtain Adult Education Teaching Cert and valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Knowledge of adult student characteristics and adult basic education content areas. Ability to instruct students in the use of basic technology applications and integrate into instruction Experience teaching/working with adult learners is a must. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships. Experience working with opportunity youth at a nonprofit organization, in an educational setting or classroom preferred. Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations and local community resources helpful. Strong communications skills are critical, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to work independently and part of a team. Ability to commit to teamwork and establishing effective working relationships. Willingness to consistently display a positive attitude and image of the agency, as well as provide high quality, effective customer service in all facets of communication. Must consistently engage in learning and developing new skills and approaches. Understands and utilizes positive participant development practices in all levels of work. Ability to be flexible as specific tasks will change with the evolution of the program. Must be able to form strong connections with other people and have an understanding of and a compassion for the lives of low income families. Background Check Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness . Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and how recent. The background check will consist of a reference checks, employment, education, and criminal background search. ACYR is an at-will employer and any offer of employment with ACYR is contingent upon a successful completion of said background check. Certification/Licenses/Other Requirements Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Driver's License. Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business. Work Environment ACYR promotes communication, helping, healing and education between ACYR team members and students. Physical Demands Requires energetic interactions between the ACYR team members and students. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
