Description: Linkitall LLC (DBA LIA) is seeking a certified Recreational Therapist in assisting the Department of Army to plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based medical treatment programs for wounded warriors. The Recreational Therapist enjoys leading facilitated sports activities for soldiers, as well as conducting and establishing soldier's individual training plans. The Recreational Therapist shall ensure that all activities carried out in the facility as well as those conducted off-site meet the purpose and goals established by the soldier's individual Comprehensive Training Plan in each of the six domains: Career, Physical, Emotional, Social, Family, and Spiritual. Recreation activities include, but are not limited to adaptive sports, arts and crafts, dance, drama, music, low organized games, table and board games, sports and athletics, special events, outdoor activities, and volunteer programs. Participate in various adaptive recovery sporting activities. Examples include: archery, cycling, rowing, track, field, sitting volleyball, swimming and wheelchair basketball. Interpret data about the soldier's status to identify recreational and leisure needs. Provide the appropriate activities with consideration to age, culture, disability, capabilities, and tolerance levels. Utilizes standard assessment tools and/or develops specific tools to determine functional assessment, interest inventories and profiles. Identifies appropriate therapeutic goals and develops the Soldier's treatment plan in accordance with AR 40-58 and the Adaptive Reconditioning Standard Operating Procedures. Responsible for planning and developing comprehensive design plans for each SRU activity and integrated execution of all events in accordance with the ARCP mission. Coordinates the tracking of pertinent Soldier data and information for ARCP event participants and facilitates appropriate communication between soldiers and coaches. Conducts pre-event site visits to review proposed facilities, equipment, and coach support for events at the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU). Develops comprehensive event site-visit checklists for planning and execution. Develops a comprehensive requirements checklist for equipment, support, and personnel including a schedule for event set-up and tear down. Review and analyze program data and analytical reports to ensure technical correctness, identify issues and trends. Assures corrective actions are taken and that the Adaptive Reconditioning Lead is aware of necessary program changes. Actively participates in Adaptive Reconditioning surveys and progress reports. Submit monthly reports including activity participation, positive profile percentages, equipment on-hand assessment data required by the Adaptive Reconditioning lead and Recreation Director. Works with volunteer groups and non-profit organizations to plan and carry out patient trips into the local, regional, and national communities. Coordinates activities, outings, and special events. Makes trip arrangements for events involving travel, orders supplies, equipment, and food required for special events/trips. Works closely with donor groups, the gift coordinator, legal staff, Soldier Recovery Battalion personnel, and the Soldier Recovery Family Support Center. Assists with recruiting Soldiers for WTU, intra-service and international events including, but not limited to Army Trials, Warrior Games, Invictus Games, and Warrior Care Month. Enables the training of recruited athletes to ensure they best represent the Army. In the event of a medical emergency, the Recreation Therapists administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and follow established protocols to obtain further medical assistance. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree from accredited University 1-3 years prior experience in Recreational Therapy Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Knowledge of general regulatory standards and compliance requirements Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development within the adaptive sports industry. General math skills Proficiency in MS Office, including the ability to operate computerized spreadsheet programs High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality Effective organizational, stress and time management skills Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines Flexible personal style to work with diverse personalities.
