The neuroscience program manager works directly with the grants and program operations team, as well as program, finance, executive, and communications teams, to manage the work of the McKnight Endowment Fund for Neuroscience, ensuring alignment with the Foundation's strategic vision for the program, serving as a conduit of information between the Foundation and the Fund, and managing all program activities. Reporting Relationships The neuroscience program manager is part of the McKnight Foundation's program team and reports to the director of grants and program operations. Key Responsibilities The neuroscience program manager will have the following responsibilities: Manage the neuroscience research program. Work with Foundation President, Vice President of Programs, and Vice President of Finance and Operations to ensure program is aligned with the interests and priorities of Foundation leadership. Serve as a conduit between the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Fund and the Foundation. Serve as central point of contact and responsibility for all of the Fund's operations, ensuring that the program aligns with the Foundation's mission and strategic framework. Create Neuroscience program materials for the Foundation's quarterly board book and provide quarterly updates. Develop and manage the Fund's budget and quarterly fund transfers; produce required documents for annual audit, and work with Foundation's finance team to ensure timely and accurate audit process. Provide timely and accurate financial reports and recommendations to the Fund's BOD. Maintain and amend Fund's organization bylaws. Consult with legal counsel as needed. Oversee planning and implementation of Fund's award programs and annual conference. Provide support to Fund's BOD and award committees by preparing meeting agendas and supporting materials. Oversee website content, including updates; coordinate changes with Foundation's communications team. Review and approve all administrative and grant award payments. Track and review Fund awardee's annual narrative and financial reports. Organize and manage program evaluations for Foundation. Track outcomes of program goals (e.g., increase in applicants/finalists/awardees from underrepresented communities). Develop knowledge of the Fund's awardees' research and general neuroscience research by participating in virtual/in person lab visits, neuroscience conferences (e.g., Society for Neuroscience), and independent reading. Stay abreast of trends in the field of neuroscience funding, especially as it pertains to DEI. Oversee and direct Fund-specific work of senior program and grants associate and program team administrator and assist with time-sensitive tasks as needed. Provide support to the director of grants and operations or staff, as needed. Participate in Foundation-wide meetings and events. Qualifications The ideal program manager will have demonstrated experience in project management, strong financial acumen, effective communication skills, and a customer service orientation.While no one candidate will have all the criteria enumerated below, the following statements provide a general framework of the requirements of the position. Five years of related full time professional work experience in a foundation, non-profit, research institution, or governmental field, or combination of equivalent experience and training. Three years of experience developing and managing sophisticated budgets. Project management experience is strongly desired. Experience working with a board of directors is strongly desired. This opportunity is a full-time, exempt position based in Minneapolis. The position salary range is $117,900 - $124,450, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
