The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter seeks responsible adults to provide care (respite) in a home-like setting for families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through supervision, personal care, and recreational activities. Their stay may include community outings, going to the movies, going out for dinner, arts & crafts, and celebrating holidays and birthdays.Staff working in our Respite Care Home are responsible for the immediate supervision of the program, including protective oversight of the individuals and implementation of the plans and activities. The Senior Respite Specialist will also perform direct care as needed. We expect all our employees to demonstrate professional conduct to include compassion, dignity, and respect when interacting with other staff, family, and individuals we support. Oneida County Responsibilities: Support the people being served with living a life that includes self-determination, choices and promotes personal outcomes. Participate in activities of daily living as necessary, i.e., toileting, eating, dressing, bathing, and ambulating to whatever extent is required based on individual needs, including lifting assistance as needed. Staff will be responsible for becoming familiar with the individual's Care Plan/Safeguards and providing any change of information and/or concerns to the program supervisor. Plan and participate in integrated activities that are accessible and rewarding to the individuals in the program. Qualifications: Associates degree in Human Services or a related field, and six (6) months documented experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (Or) High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of documented experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
