POSITION DESCRIPTION & OVERVIEW Title : Accountant Reports To : Director of Finance Schedule : Mon-Fri, Daytime Flexible Compensation : $65,000-$75,000 Job Classification : Full Time, Salaried Exempt Union Representation : This position is not a union represented position. This position will support the Finance department working through a variety of daily and monthly accounting tasks to: meet month end deadlines for reconciliations, invoicing, reporting (both internal & external), fixed assets, assist in updating, developing and implementation of accounting policies and procedures, procurement, etc. Position will be cross-trained to support the Contracts Accountant and Staff Accountant in month invoicing, daily deposits, participant rent check preparation, monthly journal entry, etc. PRIMARY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS Review financial records on an ongoing basis to identify discrepancies and errors and recommend corrections. Prepare month end reconciliations and recommend journal entries to maintain integrity of the accounting records. Assist in preparation of month end financials for both internal and external users and assure accuracy of said statements. Support the development and implementation of process improvements in collaboration with other agency departments. Assist with audit preparation on an on-going basis. Ensure financial policies and procedures are kept up to date and understood. Assist with monthly invoicing, daily deposits, accounts payable, etc. as necessary. All other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION Sedentary work - Sitting most of the time with occasional walking. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associates or Bachelor's Degree in account plus five years' experience in a similar position. Must pass Department of Human Services NetStudy 2.0 Background Check. Ability to be flexible, multi-task and manage time in a busy environment. Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Possess superior computer skills with experience in Office 365, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information. Demonstrated ability to learn a variety of computer applications as necessary. Demonstrated skill in understanding of cultural differences. Experience that gives applicants the required skills, abilities, and perspectives listed above are commonly gained through one or more of the following: Personal experience with homelessness; Experience working, interning, or volunteering with people experiencing homelessness; An Associates, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Social Work (with accompanying licensure), Human Services, or Family Studies. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Non-profit experience Experience with Sage Intacct Accounting Software AGENCY COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS Agate Housing and Services maintains a COVID-19 preparedness plan that mitigates the transmission and spread of COVID-19. Programs also maintain practices to ensure the safety of staff, clients, residents, and community members.
