Triton Systems is seeking a Materials /Metallurgical Engineer with knowledge and/or experience in additive manufacturing and an interest in innovative research and development and a desire to create exciting new products. Triton's diverse set of projects will give you experience across the product development cycle and allow you to shine in a fast-paced environment. The Structures group focuses on several technology areas including additive manufacturing, new materials design and development, process modeling and simulation, and more. Responsibilities: Lead R&D/product development programs Communicate with Govt and Commercial customers to better understand their requirements, developing concepts to satisfy these requirements, developing concept development plans, and communicating these plans, both written and verbally, to the customer. I dentify collaboration partners and team members to support concept development. Responsible for preparation and presentation of results to customers (written and oral) Support transition and commercialization of concepts developed. Management and technical leadership of new and current programs to ensure commitments (cost, schedule, technical) are met. Self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems Qualifications: Strong understanding of the fundamental principles of physical metallurgy Knowledge in metal additive manufacturing (powder bed fusion, directed energy deposition, etc.) Experience with basic metallographic sample preparation and mechanical testing of metals Ability to work with and lead multi-disciplinary teams Adaptability and desire to learn new technologies Strong written and verbal communication skills Education/Experience: Degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science - either PhD + 3 years of experience or MS + 5 years of experience. Experience in writing proposals to government agencies Experience in both cold spray and additive manufacturing of metals. Equipment and powders knowledge. 5 plus years of experience working in R&D or product development. Experience independently managing projects is desired Hands-on experimental and fabrication experience, specifically in metal additive manufacturing Experience with metal alloys utilized in the Defense and Aerospace market (desired but not required) Experience with advanced characterization techniques such as SEM, EBSD, TEM, etc. Experience with CAD software (desired but not required) Experience with government R&D/product development programs is preferred Due to the nature of our business and information associated with this position, interested candidates must be US Citizens Come join our success and grow with the strength of these fascinating new technologies.
