Program/Child Development Specialist This position is located in Winslow, AZ and is Part Time North Country HealthCare is transforming healthcare for rural Arizona as a Federally Qualified Health Center and Teaching Health Center. We provide Primary Care, Dental, Physical Therapy, and Behavioral Health services to the under-served population across 12 communities in northern Arizona. We have an interprofessional care practice in a culture that values innovation . GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The innovative HealthySteps approach is based on the most recent scientific understandings of how early childhood development works, and how it can best be supported to ensure individual, family, community, and societal well-being. The HealthySteps Specialist is an early child development expert who will join the pediatric primary care to provide interventions, referrals, and follow-up for families with patients ages birth through five years old. The Specialist builds strong relationships with families and pediatric healthcare providers to increase the efficiency of the medical system and support team-based comprehensive care. The HealthySteps Specialist will support pediatric healthcare providers by bringing specialized, non-medical knowledge around child development and behavior. The Specialist will help support caregivers in their role as nurturers of the emotional, behavioral, intellectual, and physical growth of their children by providing education, support, screening, and linkage to community resources. OVERALL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Attend all well child visits, offering support and education to parents around all non-medical concerns and/or questions Perform developmental screenings during well child visits and follow up with families on progress, as needed Manage the data entry duties and monitor documentation of service delivery, program processes and other documentation related duties to fulfill fidelity measures set by HealthySteps National Office Develop and sustain relationships with organizations, agencies, community resources, and maintaining a consistent presence with families Make referrals to other community services and provide follow-ups with families Collaborate with other HealthySteps Specialists and MCH program staff Co-facilitate support and education groups as needed Work with families on goals and outcomes Provide useful resources and educational materials for families Perform home visits when needed or upon request Answer child development hotline calls to provide information about child development and behavior, promote caregiver confidence, and decrease parent stress. Educate community leaders and partner organizations about the HealthySteps program and the work of First Things First Develop a relationship with staff at the Women and Infant Center at Flagstaff Medical Center and conduct bedside visits to distribute program information, assess newborn development and refer families to a HealthySteps pediatric location MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Bachelor's required/Master's preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Preferred three year's experience in early child development Excellent written and verbal communication skills Basic: Database, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing Must be able to work independently and manage multiple priorities Cultural competence with Native American and Hispanic cultures Travel required (Must provide own transportation/mileage reimbursed at the state rate, which is currently $.445 per mile) North Country HealthCare follows CDC guidelines and federal mandates and requires vaccination against COVID-19 of all its employees.
