CFD Research Corporation is applying cutting edge science and technology, high performance computing, and advanced laboratory technology to the problem of developing and testing advanced weapons concepts and components for the United States Air Force. We seek a missile simulation engineer to play a key role in Air Force Research Lab operations, including design, development, and construction of software models to support hardware in the loop (HWIL) test & evaluation of advanced weapons system concepts. Job Duties Include: Supporting analysis, modeling, and simulation of all aspects of weapon systems for AFRL Munitions Directorate. Working with a team of multi-disciplinary engineers to provide analysis and M&S of various missile components including airframe design, sensors, navigation systems, command and control, and system dynamics. Developing physics-based models for multiple systems in order to develop more robust and authoritative models for various customer requirements. Integrating new capabilities and models into the tools for technology upgrades. The successful applicant must be able to work effectively both within a team and individually, and have the ability to anticipate requirements and technology, and act proactively to position the lab for improvement and success. Qualifications: Knowledge of one or more of the following: Flight Dynamics, Guidance, Navigation, Controls, Aerodynamics, Propulsion Preferred candidate will have experience with Integrated Flight Simulations, 3DOF/6DOF Simulations, and System of Systems simulations Proficiency with one or more software languages used in simulations (C++, Python, MATLAB, Java) Position requires at least a Bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering or similar discipline (Master's Degree is a plus) Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance About CFD Research: Since its inception in 1987, CFD Research has been a technology leader in engineering simulations and innovative designs.
