Position Summary: The Employee Relations Manager champions Airbus Values and culture by promoting a culture of teamwork, respect, reliability, integrity, creativity and customer focus. The ER Manager will drive an effective Positive Employee Relations campaign by actively partnering with the Head of Positive Employee Relations ("PER"), the regional Employee Relations Managers, Employment Legal Counsel, Human Resources Business Partners and Senior leadership in order to deliver on the promise that Airbus works best when it partners with its employees directly, maintaining Airbus' status as an employer of choice. This position is open to the following locations: Herndon, VA, Mobile, AL or Grand Prairie, Tx Primary Responsibilities: Act as a Strategic Partner for Airbus Positive Employee Relations Strategy: 45% Drive Airbus Values and culture with managers and business leaders, working daily to ensure that our ideals and culture are understood and incorporated into all employee interactions Support Head of PER and ER stakeholders in managing 2-way, direct relationship with personnel and service suppliers for employee relations purposes Support the ER stakeholders and Employment Legal Counsel in addressing and resolving all employee/labor relations matters quickly and effectively through established and to be developed means Facilitate, at a tactical level, the feedback loop on ER issues to the Head of ER and the rest of senior management through utilizing established PER strategic processes. Utilizes best practices and subject matter expertise in collaborating with HRBPs and other key stakeholders to identify and ensure the implementation of timely and appropriate solutions based on well-supported findings and conclusions Conduct culture assessment and support deployment of MWE and other sensing tools Prepare comparative data analytics using results of the PER sensing tools and other regional data inputs , including investigation summaries, exit data, and other retention measures Support Consistent Regional Practices with PER Focus: 30% Supports and partners with ER and HR stakeholders in conducting and/or managing the effective and timely investigation and resolution of complex, highly sensitive employee relations matters, including fact-finding, witness interviews, document and evidentiary review, data and root-cause analyses, reviewing and/or writing investigation reports Create and conduct trainings for employees, business leaders, and HR stakeholders regarding employment law, investigations, compliance, employee relations topics Provide consultation to HRBP clients with their investigations and report writing Escalate to HO PER and Employment Legal Counsel difficult resolutions when appropriate Partner with other ER stakeholders across the region to ensure consistent approach to consequential management, leave management, and policy application Supports the Employment Legal Counsel in maintaining regulatory compliance for various HR functions including, but not limited to, annual handbook review, recruitment, affirmative action, equal employment, and reasonable accommodation considerations Builds relationships with all stakeholders by learning the business operations. Anticipates and influences HR-related needs by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of business objectives and strategies. Partners with cross-functional and regional HR subject matter experts to execute programs to support talent management, career planning, leadership coaching, learning and development, and strategic organizational development. Drive Strategic Communications on all ER topics: 20% Support difficult conversations with business stakeholders on employee relations topics when requested by HRBPs Review and support consequential management process, while conducting analysis for trends Support the HR Communication liaison in defining strategic communications to focus on PER strategy while improving the employee experience Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned: Attend ER / Employment Law conferences and trainings when appropriate Support change management activities and communications Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, HR or related field MBA or MS/MPS in ILR, HRM, or similar is a plus Juris Doctor preferred, but not required May consider substitution of experience or education if needed Experience: 8+ years engaged in HR, Management, Labor Relations, Compliance or Legal with an emphasis in labor issues or new graduate from Juris Doctorate(JD) law program will be considered in lieu of the 8 year minimum experience requirement Experience conducting investigations and managing difficult conversations Experience working with both hourly and salaried employees Aerospace industry experience preferred Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Experience working for a complex, international organization preferred Licensure/Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR- Preferred Certification in Labor Relations or Employee Relations Law- Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Knowledge of employment and labor law including EEO, FMLA, FLSA, etc. Demonstrated ability to conduct ethical and legally compliant investigations Demonstrated ability to mediate and navigate conflict between internal stakeholders Demonstrated conflict and problem resolution skills Knowledge of HR Best practices and ability to apply consistently across the business Demonstrated skills in data analytics and ability to recognize trends and propose intervention techniques Ability to research and implement new technology based solutions to existing processes Ability to form meaningful relationships with stakeholders at all levels Knowledge and passion for the Aerospace Industry a plus Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages): Fluent written and spoken English, with ability to influence and direct others French, German, or Spanish skills a plus Technical Systems Proficiency: Experience with G-suite and other SaaS/cloud based productivity tools: Preferred Travel Required: 20% Domestic Eligibility: Authorized to Work in the US Clearance: None Decision Making, Complexity: Regularly responsible for making decisions that can cause immediate impact to employees and the business Must be comfortable advising senior business leaders as well as first line employees Nature of Contacts: Involved, negotiation type communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties Physical Requirements: Candidate should be comfortable working for extended periods of time using computers. Additionally, candidate must be comfortable interacting within a manufacturing environment.
