Assistant or Associate Professor of Data Analytics Chatham University welcomes applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Data Analytics. Chatham currently offers a BS in Applied Data Science Analytics and minors in Applied Data Science Analytics and Applied Machine learning. The successful candidate for this position will teach courses that support these programs, contribute to potential future curriculum development related to data analytics, work with faculty from other areas of the university to explore applications of data analytics, and mentor students. Learn more at: https://www.chatham.edu/mission-and-values/diversity-and-inclusion/index.html Position Summary: This nine-month position requires research and teaching related to data analytics, participation in curriculum development, advising students, and University service. In addition, the faculty member in this position will be expected to develop relationships with industry partners to provide experiential learning opportunities for Chatham students. Responsibilities & Duties: Teach 18 credits per academic year in courses such as Introduction to Programming, Computer Programming II, Fundamentals of Data Science, Data Visualization and Communication, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science Ethics, Business Research and Analytics, and Business Statistics. Participate in curriculum development related to data science. Serve as an academic advisor to students. Engage in scholarly endeavors. Engage in service to the University and to the broader community. Develop relationships with industry partners to provide experiential learning opportunities for Chatham students. Required Qualifications: PhD or other doctoral degree in a relevant field including, but not limited to, business administration, statistics, data analytics, machine learning, or engineering. Ability to teach courses in programming, data analysis and visualization, and machine learning using industry-standard programming languages Python and R. Ability to teach course modules covering no- or low-code data analysis tools such as Tableau or PowerBI. Commitment to contributing to an inclusive and equitable campus community. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with faculty, staff and students with diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives. Experience teaching Python or R, preferably in a higher-education institution. Experience teaching data science subjects, preferably in a higher-education institution. Potential for collaborative interdisciplinary work using data analytics to solve problems in a range of fields. Practical experience with data analytics outside of academia.
