Summary Under the supervision of the superintendent or assistant superintendent, Groundskeepers perform routine manual labor involved in golf course and grounds maintenance, perform semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance, operates small hand -powered equipment and occasionally performs work involving large and small equipment. May operate tractors, loaders, weed eaters, chainsaws, mowers and triplex or five plex mowers as well as related work that is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensures member and guest satisfaction Operate mowers and string trimmers Operates some powered equipment such as greens mowers, triplex mowers and the like. Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failures to the equipment technician immediately. Returns all equipment to designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance area. Helps in project work; assists in construction; grades and prepares soil bases; lays sod and seeds greens, tees and fairways. Installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and repairs pipe on drainage and irrigation systems. Waters by hand or automatic control, tees, greens and fairways. Performs other duties as directed by his or her supervisor. Qualification Knowledge of safe, efficient working methods and operation of tractors and other motorized equipment. Language Skills Ability to read, write and understand instructions in English. Physical Demands This job demands that the employee be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. This job also requires the ability to lift objects weighing over 50 pounds. This job requires working outdoors o a daily basis subject to all weather conditions. Work Environment The noise level is moderate to loud. Appearance Standards Uniforms are provided and are expected to be worn and kept as neat and clean as possible.
