Job Title: Upper School Social Studies Teacher Employment Status : Part Time Reports to: Upper School Principal 9-12 Start Date: August 2023 Work Schedule: 10 months. Following the school calendar. Additional time as needed for after-school meetings, conferences, and professional development. Job Summary: Teach a schedule of social studies classes. Job Responsibilities: Create lesson plans that provide students with creative and appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of adolescent students Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of student achievement Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students through a variety of means, including face-to-face conversations, email, phone calls and conferences Integrate technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process Actively seek out ways to grow and learn as a teacher through professional development Find ways to positively impact school culture. Seek our and maintain open communication with administration. Continue accurate, complete, and current records of student progress, achievement, and behavior Work collaboratively with faculty and staff. This includes, but is not limited to, working with the Upper School faculty team Qualifications: 4-year degree in education with a focus in social studies Licensed teacher with 9-12 certification for the state of Ohio with a focus in social studies Experience working with a learning management system, like Canvas is a plus Must be a professing Christian who is comfortable in a multi-denominational Christian community Able to integrate faith and learning CHCA is an equal opportunity employer. MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
