Concordia is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and in the world. Position Summary The Living Faith inVocations Living-Learning Community Mentor is responsible for the whole-person development of church work students and students who are wanting this experience to grow deeper in their faith, applying it to their future profession. They will be available for mentoring conversations with the participating students, and the oversight of programming involved in living together in campus housing. This person needs to possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities involving a proven track record of caring for students, able to live and articulate their faith in Jesus Christ, be able to work with a diverse student population, experience with forming relationships with students, have experiences in being a church worker, organizational skills needed for the administration of applicable programming, and the ability to converse with faculty and staff about faith and student issues. It is imperative that this person integrate their faith and understanding of human development in their care and leading students. This Mentor will be required to live in provided campus housing. Job Duties and Responsibilities Serves from Aug. 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024. Appointment is for 1 year and may not renew Commit to being the Mentor for students for students for 1 academic year while being a part of their residential housing community Reports to CUAA Dean of Students; Student Life Dept. Interfaces with students, faculty, staff Be committed to whole person, spiritual formation of Christian women and men, available for conversations and questions. Eat with students on a regular basis in Café etc. Worship together regularly. Lead devotions or Bible study at least weekly. Collaborate with church work programs directors and Dean of Students to develop programming and/or retreats for Christian formation. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree required, Masters Degree preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience in related field preferred. Compensation and Benefits This is a part-time Grant Funded position. Continuation of position is dependent upon grant funding. Tuition benefits are available for employees; however, there are no other benefits associated with this position.
