We are opening a new lab in Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 in June and are looking to hire a Technical Laboratory Supervisor! What you will be doing: The Technical Laboratory Supervisor is the onsite resource for all troubleshooting for lab processes, potential technical issues, and is the go-to resource to provide lab personnel support. The Technical Supervisor is responsible to ensure all training and competency assessments are performed by all staff handling patient specimens. In conjunction with the Lab Manager, the Technical Supervisor will ensure all State and CLIA regulatory requirements are met. The Technical Supervisor is responsible for productivity of all infectious disease testing with a goal of providing 100% accuracy in delivering results. Must be accessible to testing personnel at all times to provide on-site, telephone or electronic support to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established either by the Laboratory Director or Lab Manager. Selection of the test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical use of the test results. Verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system. Enrollment and participation in an HHS approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered. Establishing a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establishing the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of the specimen, through sample analysis and reporting of test results. Resolving technical problems and ensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly. Identifying training needs and assuring that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed. Evaluating the competency of all testing personnel and assuring that the staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently. Demonstrate proficiency while running KingFisher Flex, QuantStudio12K and QuantStudio5. Performing specimen processing and PCR reactions as needed Is responsible for providing day-to-day supervision of high complexity test performance by qualified testing personnel. Demonstrate proficiency while manually pipetting and preparing solutions. Assuring that all corrective and preventive actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Provide training and guidance to all testing personnel; and ensure completion of periodic competency assessments. Our ideal candidate has: Education: Master's Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science is strongly preferred or, Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Science + 4 years lab training of experience in high complexity microbiology with a minimum of 6 months of subspecialty of service or, A physician, surgeon or doctoral-level scientist must have one year of prior experience in a high-level complexity testing environment. Experience: 1-2 years previous supervisory experience required. A Technical Supervisor must be licensed to perform high complexity testing or practice medicine in California. A physician and surgeon or doctoral-level scientist must have one year of experience, a master's-level scientist, two years, and a baccalaureate-level scientist, four years of experience. Certifications/Licenses: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License (CMSL) Must be licensed to perform high complexity testing or practice medicine in CA. Skills: Knowledge of clinical laboratory services. Technical knowledge to monitor lab operations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a strong attention to detail. Additional information: Salary Range: $140k target max pay Final compensation for this role is determined by a variety of factors, such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, and certification. The new lab will open on June 17th, 2023 with an expected start date for this role of May 22nd, 2023. Shift: 5, 9-hour shifts per week. Night Shift: 1:00am - 10:00am. Weekends may be required! Lab Location: Sherman Oaks, CA Training/Onboarding will be in our Atlanta, GA or Denton, TX Lab. Travel and Lodging expenses for training will be covered.
