What's the job all about? An Epigenetics Statistician or Bioinformatician is responsible for analyzing large-scale data sets generated by epigenetics experiments to identify patterns, correlations, and potential relationships among epigenetic changes. The position involves developing and implementing statistical models and algorithms to analyze and interpret data from experiments that involve epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, and chromatin structure. Key Responsibilities: Analyze large-scale epigenetics datasets using advanced statistical methods and software Develop and validate new statistical models and algorithms to analyze epigenetic data Provide statistical support to research teams to design experiments and optimize data collection and analysis Communicate results and findings to stakeholders in both written and verbal form Stay informed on the latest advancements in statistical methods and software for epigenetics data analysis Partner with other scientists and researchers to interpret results and provide recommendations for further experiments and analysis. What you can offer? Education/Qualifications: MS or Ph.D. graduate level training in quantitative sciences such as statistics, bioinformatics, mathematics, data science etc. Minimum 2 years' post-graduate working experience Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python Experience in analyzing large-scale epigenetics datasets Strong understanding of statistical methods and algorithms commonly used in epigenetics data analysis Familiarity with tools and databases for analyzing epigenetic data, such as ENCODE, Roadmap Epigenomics, and the Human Epigenome Project Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of researchers and stakeholders. Competencies: Strong computational background including experience with both a scripting language and a statistical language Strong statistical training, including in-depth knowledge of appropriate methods for experimental design and batch correction Skilled in conveying complex analytical results to cross-functional teams including experimentalists and other bioinformaticians High attention to detail and problem solving Professional written and verbal communication Success Factors: Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Personable, efficient and a highly motivated professional with an internal drive to succeed Time management: prioritize tasks to ensure that projects are completed by deadlines Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and maintain detailed records What Active Motif can offer? Certain positions may be eligible for additional compensation such as commission, bonus, and stock options. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
