These words still guide every employee, every day. Our guiding mission is to help kids and their families' transition from hospital to home. That means we practice world-class pediatric medicine to treat the symptoms but we also train parents and caregivers to provide a high-level of care at home so patients continue to progress after discharge " Care Beyond the Bedside " means that our kids receive their therapies and rehab away from their rooms and out of their beds as much as 70% of the day. The rest of the time, they are playing just being kids in our state of the art facility designed to inspire children! JOB SUMMARY: Ranken Jordan is currently looking for a Dietary Cook (1.0 FTE). This position is 10 hour shifts, either 8am-6:30pm or 6am-4:30pm, and includes weekends. In this role you will be a big part of a small dietary team that provides meals and formula for our kids. In this role, under the direction of the Manager of Dietary, you will be preparing and serving meals to patients in compliance with established procedures and guidelines, while maintaining cleanliness and using standard procedures. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : Prepares food in accordance with written menus and serves appropriate portions to patients at specified times. Maintains cleanliness of preparation, cooking, and storage areas including all equipment in the kitchen, the dish room, and the dining room in accordance with regulations. Reviews menus to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared, reviews diet slips for formula needs. Plans cooking schedule so that foods will be ready at specified times, using correct sanitation and safety practices. Makes dietary substitutions as necessary for patients as requested by Dietary Manager, Dietitian, therapists, and medical staff. Adheres to Patient Rights and Responsibilities, the Dietary Policy & Procedure Manual, Approved Diet Manual, the USDA Food Service Procedures & Guidelines, and sanitary regulations. Knows the mission and values of Ranken Jordan and in accordance, maintains appropriate professional behavior at all times. All other duties as assigned by the Manager of Dietary, or his/her designee. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED : High school diploma preferred. Must be able to read, write and correctly perform units of measurement conversions. Hepatitis A vaccination required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: These include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, pulling, pushing, standing, carrying, and lifting of light loads (up to 35 lb.).
