Staff Engineer - Geotechnical EIT

Design a career and build your future... Because it matters! McMillen is currently seeking a Staff Engineer - Geotechnical EIT to join our growing company. This professional will apply engineering and geologic and geotechnical principles and techniques to work with a diverse, multi-disciplined team to complete dam/hydroelectric, conveyance tunnels, and water resource projects. The position will be located in Denver, Colorado. Responsibilities: Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner. Work in conjunction with engineers, geologists, and scientists to solve project challenges, performing design calculations as required. Assist with feasibility studies by conducting research to assess challenges and develop solutions. Conduct field inspections; observe and participate in field exploration and testing programs; and perform site characterizations and evaluate geotechnical hazards under the supervision of more senior engineers/geologists. Assist in the selection of criteria for planning, design, and construction of dams, tunnels, foundations, slopes, and earth-retaining structures. Assess subsurface conditions, including soil and rock properties and geomechanical conditions, including review and interpretation of field maps, field logs, test data, and other field documentation. Evaluate field and laboratory test data and develop parameters for use in technical analyses. Conduct numerical analysis using programs such as DIPS, UNWEDGE, SWEDGE, UDEC, Phase2, Rocscience Slide under the supervision of others. Prepare technical reports including geotechnical data reports, geotechnical baseline reports, field reports, technical memoranda, computation packages, feasibility reports, design and evaluation reports, construction drawings, and specifications. Provide field engineering support for projects during construction. Participate in professional development and training activities. Qualifications: BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (MS with a geotechnical focus preferred) EIT required, with a commitment to obtain PE in multiple states as needed Skill in reading, interpreting and communicating contract documents, plans and specifications Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction related to dam and hydro infrastructure Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to convey technical information through written and verbal communication (English) Able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks Ability to work in a team environment, work independently and be self-motivated Willing to travel up to 25% Proficient in Microsoft Office suite 1+ years of geotechnical or geologic experience, experience with dams is preferred Who We Are: McMillen, Inc.
