We are seeking an Estimator candidate for our DC Metro region. This position is fast-paced and requires someone with strong organizational skills who has the ability to manage multiple jobs and tasks within tight time frames. We are looking for a team player that builds positive relationships with co-workers, employees, vendors, suppliers, and customers. Responsibilities include: Participate in and lead hard bid estimates. Prepare preconstruction estimates for schematic and design development level bid documents. Review construction plans and specifications to complete quantitative take-offs and support fellow bid team estimators. Communicate with subcontractor base with regard to project scope, schedule, risk, etc. Lead and support bid day tasks including the following: finalize project cost & alternates; verify subcontractors' scopes & costs; analyze project risks; resolve conflicts and questions on bid scopes. Solicit quotes from various vendors and subcontractors in an effort to obtain the most competitive cost for materials, equipment and sub-contractor labor. Actively participate in the internal review of estimated projects. Build relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and general contractors. Organize and distribute all construction documents in a timely manner to subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers for pricing. Attend pre-bid meetings, scope review meetings, review proposals and negotiate with clients. Perform other related duties as required or directed. Best suited candidates will posses the following characteristics: Must have general knowledge of estimating principles and policies. Four year Construction Management degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of one year experience in construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong time management and organizational skills. Preferred experience in commercial construction estimating and/or project management. Preferred experience with estimating and bid software programs. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, with an emphasis on thoroughness, and attention to details. Ability to work in a fast-paced professional and team-oriented environment.
