Position Summary: Kenton County Public Library is seeking an Adult Programmer/Librarian. The Adult Programmer/Librarian will be tasked with improving and adding to the already rich experiences and offerings of the branch, including high quality programming, reference service, readers' advisory and technology assistance. The primary purpose of this position is to provide a large, diverse adult population with a wide variety of programs and events. The person in this position must have the ability to define and solve problems; must be creative; must be able to work independently; have awareness of community resources and contacts; and be a proven self-starter. Responsibilities : Work with the Adult Services Coordinator and other pertinent staff to develop ideas for individual programs, series, and large scale events presented in the branch and in the community. Plan, implement and evaluate adult programs. Manage the budget provided for materials, performers and instructors for adult programming. Network and partner with community agencies and/or businesses in offering and expanding library services to current and new library users. Coordinate with other departments for family programs and with other branches for system-wide events/series. Work closely with the Public Relations Department and other library departments to ensure proper scheduling, marketing, and promotion of programs/events (via traditional avenues as well as social media). Compile and submit information and statistics on program attendance in a timely manner. Ensure successful events by working with schedulers and volunteer coordinators to secure proper coverage for events. Provide reference services, facilitate book clubs, and lead library tours, as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: MLS from ALA accredited university preferred; the right combination of relevant education and work experience may be acceptable. Relevant work experience and background in public relations, marketing, and social media desired. Proven communications/public relations skills along with strong service orientation required. Ability to work individually or within a group environment with a diverse population, including individuals, agencies, and businesses. Must have sense of humor. Evenings, weekends, and "out of library" hours required. Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Internet, and experience with electronic databases and resources, and eBooks. Must have a valid driver's license and means of transportation to fulfill job responsibilities. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and carry 10 ft.; must be able to push and/or pull 100 lbs.
