What do I need as a Fitness Instructor for Seniors with Messiah Lifeways? Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm Must feel comfortable teaching groups Must have computer and office skills. Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related degree program or experience equivalent; preferred. Lifeguarding Certification accepted by the PA Department of Health; preferred First Aid/CPR/AED Certification; preferred Fitness Certifications (i.e. Silver Sneakers, Group Fitness Instruction, etc); preferred Willing to become a certified aquatic instructor? What will I do as a Fitness Instructor for Seniors with Messiah Lifeways? Understand the physical needs of older adults and adapt to meet individual needs and/or limitations in all programming Follow/adhere to organizational policies and procedures, federal/state regulations and guidelines, including Resident Rights Demonstrate the Core Values of Messiah Lifeways Assume accountability for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the assigned duties and within his or her span of control Will assume responsibility to ensure secure handling of information, and will adhere to HIPAA Privacy and Security standards Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of your organization and attend training to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned Provide for safety and security in the Wellness Center Oversee safety of all members in and around the Center for Vitality and Wellness Report and complete facility work orders to the Maintenance Department Understand and orient members to procedures during all types of emergencies Keep Center for Vitality and Wellness free of clutter and equipment in place Routinely check equipment for wear and safety Provide Wellness services as scheduled in Individual Schedules Assist with overall function of the Center for Vitality and Wellness Lead fitness and aquatic classes as assigned, both group and individual Provide fitness center supervision Provide lifeguard services Enforces rules of the Center for Vitality and Wellness Office duties/Office hours Fold and restock towels as needed Provide assistance to administrative procedures of the Wellness Center Understand and assist with membership procedures May facilitate orientations for new wellness members and other office duties as assigned Assist with record keeping, taking and returning phone calls in a timely manner, and collecting statistics. and Center for Vitality and Wellness administration as needed and/or directed by the Manager.
