Job Description: Property Management Accountant We are a multifamily property management company seeking an experienced Property Management Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting for our portfolio of properties. You will work closely with the property management team and senior management to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities: Prepare monthly financial reports, including bank reconciliations, in accordance with owner requirements and deadlines. Manage cash flow and initiate journal entries as needed. Analyze expenses and prepare accruals based on budget. Review accounts payable activity and cash balances and select invoices for payment. Perform monthly general ledger account analysis and balance sheet account reconciliations. Prepare replacement reserve draw requests. Track lender reporting requirements. Process tenant notices to vacate. Prepare an accounting of the tenant's security deposit upon move-out. Process owner distributions/contributions. Assist with various administrative tasks and projects as assigned. Research problems as required. Ensure all documentation is stored and organized on shared company drives or as outlined by senior management. Assist and coordinate audit information and requests. Maintain a professional, courteous manner with a customer service aptitude. Follow established company policies and procedures. Collaborate with the property management team to analyze tenant/owner ledgers, research and resolve questions. Assist in year-end tax preparation and owner statement generation. Review key financial data in legal documents including management agreements, leases, tax documents, etc. for proper set-up in accounting software, collaborate with property management team to adjust as necessary. Continually improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (or 3 years of relevant experience). Strong oral/written communication skills Strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, research and resolution skills, and attention to detail Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner. Ability to work well under pressure, establish priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Positive, proactive work ethic and approach. Customer service approach to duties. Solid experience in MS office products with excellence in Excel and other accounting platforms. At least three years of related experience and/or training preferred. CPA is a plus but not required. Yardi and/or AppFolio experience preferred.
