The Jim and Heather Gills YMCA is currently looking for a Sports & Recreation Attendant: Sports include soccer, basketball, volleyball, flag football, and t-ball. Responsible for reffing and teaching the basic fundamentals of sports to children ages 3 and up. Responsibilities include fostering an environment where participants build self-esteem, enhance athletic skills and gain valuable life lessons focused on the core values of the YMCA. Safety is of the utmost importance, along with providing personalized attention, support and motivation for all participants. Primary Responsibilities Sets up and breaks down program areas, ensuring that all areas are safe and clean. Scanning all areas during practices to ensure quality and safety. Supports officials, staff and coaches during practice and games. Responds to and properly documents all incidents, member/guest concerns, injuries, etc. Supports Sports Director for sports and recreation season kick-offs and end of the season activities, as well as branch special events such as Healthy Kids Day, Family Fun Days, etc. Distributes and collects program surveys, as well as marketing materials to increase registration. Implements first aid and safety procedures according to YMCA Greater St. Petersburg policies. Promotes/supports the recruitment of volunteers and assists with their training, development and recognition. Qualifications Minimum age of 16. Experience coaching/instructing youth in sports including: soccer, basketball, and football Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills required. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Knowledge and/or experience in coaching and delivering an organized quality program is preferred. Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid required in first 90 days of employment. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift an equivalent of 30 pounds. $11.00/hour and FREE YMCA Facility membership included with employment. Part-time schedule includes evenings and Saturdays. Pre-employment drug screen and fingerprint background required. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
