Lead Site Assistant - Tanner Project

Description:

This position will provide direct support to sheltering services for the homeless population at Tanner Project, ARCHES Inn, Navigation Center, Day Center, and/or Warming/Cooling centers. Responsibilities include supporting daily operations including cleaning and laundry services, clerical duties, data collection & entry, assisting clients with navigation to resources, answering client questions and other special projects as needed. The Site Assistant III will also be responsible for training and updating Site Assistants and volunteers on applicable policies and procedures. Candidates must submit application by 5/5/2023 in order to be considered for first round interviews. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); plus 2 years of experience in social services or other client-facing role. Leadership experience preferred. Preferences given to applicants who have experience working with people experiencing homelessness or at-risk of becoming homeless; and/or work experience with the public in a healthcare or community services setting. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS Approved Drive Status is required for this position, including a valid driver's license, auto insurance, vehicle for use on the job or access to agency vehicle, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous five years. Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment. This position is subject to MWVCAA's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Must possess computer skills including Microsoft Office, data entry, and internet applications. Exhibits a positive attitude and engages with others in a cooperative and supportive manner. Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and empathy when communicating formally and informally with clients, staff and program partners. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. Serves as primary point of contact for respective shift. Trains incoming staff members and volunteers on applicable duties, processes, and policies. Answers questions and aids coworkers as needed. Facilitates communication and collaboration between Site Assistants and volunteers. Focuses team toward primary program goals and exemplifies the positive culture. Ensures data collection and quality. Inputs service usage information into the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Shelter point. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Requires the ability to communicate with others and respond to potential emergencies. Requires frequent personal mobility between areas of the shelter and/or sites. Requires ability to provide in-person training support and role assignments to staff and volunteers. Regularly lift and/or move 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity for handling personal items, food, clothing, sacks, carts and use of computers and written in-take processing. Requires multi-tasking, including the ability to collaborate with staff, volunteers and guests. Requires frequent moving/walking and standing in the shelter setting and outdoor spaces. Maintains calm disposition when clients or others may become escalated, applying crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques for all participants. Regulates emotions during interactions with escalated clients and staff. Regulates emotions and handles pressures of frequent demands for attention, time and work tasks. WORK ENVIRONMENT Close quarters, with residents that are experiencing chronic homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior. Primarily indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands. Exposure to trash and potential biohazards. Driving in all weather conditions. Shift options vary between early morning, evening, and nights and includes weekends. Potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other infectious conditions. PPE, face coverings may be required. Ability/flexibility to accept work shifts or trade shifts with short notice (for example, same day for a call-out). * COVID-19 Alert: This position includes performing essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic and potential exposure to others who may be infected with the virus. I understand that if I am feeling unwell or have knowledge that I have had contact with an individual with a positive COVID-19 test, I will report it to my supervisor and XXXX@mwvcaa.org and self-isolate according to agency policies. I also understand that I must use available PPE and practice social distancing whenever possible according to agency policies.
