The Bartender's role is to support the corresponding Event Manager by delivering exceptional beverage service and providing excellent customer service. Our bartenders mix drinks, craft cocktails, and serve wine and beer. Your energetic and charismatic personality will help make the event memorable. In addition to beverage preparation, you'll learn how to properly setup a bar and how to control costs by practicing proper techniques. T his position reports to the Senior Event Manager and partners with the corresponding Event Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following, but are not limited to: Follows direction from the Event Manager with little supervision. Loads and unloads beverage products and equipment from/into catering trucks. Sets up bar from start to finish at various venues. Reads bar contract (not just bar service) to understand the entire function. Sells and services beverages to guests at catered functions. Delivers drinks within one minute of the order being completed. Answers questions and makes suggestions regarding beverages when needed. Maintains knowledge regarding menu items, drinks, wine, and beer. Observes guests, anticipates needs and responds to additional requests. Resolves guest problems on the spot - escalates complaints or problems to the immediate attention of the Event Manager when necessary. Alerts Security as well as the Event Manager to major disruptions and/or guest incidents as necessary. Accurately totals guest checks, accepts payments and makes change. Cuts garnishments and replenishes bar stock to include clean glassware, equipment, and supplies. Assists with beverage inventories. Washes glassware and bar materials - keeps bar area neat and clean. Completes Bar Report at the end of each event. Recognizes and reports all necessary maintenance problems. Suggests improvements to the operating format. Fills in where needed to ensure efficient operations, including other departments. Maintains bar licensing and attends training as necessary. Trains other fellow associates in the field as necessary. Maintains integrity and outwardly supports decisions of Event Managers. Continuously improves professional bartending skills by attending events and learning. Leads others by example. Receives positive feedback by co-workers and Event Managers during the post-event analysis process. Keeps busy during downtimes at events. Prepares self to work in inclement conditions, such as rain, snow, early or late shifts, and oftentimes loud music. REQUIREMENTS Must be 21 years of age. Hold a valid Milwaukee and/or Waukesha Bartending License (or obtain the license upon job acceptance). Complete a Wisconsin Department of Revenue recognized Responsible Beverage training course (or attend as part of licensing upon job acceptance). Six months of bartending-related work is preferred - or bartender certification in lieu of experience. Must be available weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed and according to business needs. Demonstrated dependability. Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service - including internal customers (Management and coworkers) as well as external customers (guests and clients). Valid driver's license and access to insured transportation (preferred but not mandatory). Continuous repetitive motion abilities - such as standing, reaching, bending, lifting, carrying, walking, and lifting during 90% of shift. CORE COMPETENCIES High Regard for Success.
