As a high school teacher this position will educate students in grades 9-12. High School Teachers will influence students' lives, since students will apply what they learn to their future endeavors. This position will Instruct students in health science theory and skills as course competencies for Sports Medicine I, Sports Medicine II, Sports Medicine III, and Medical Terminology. Engaging students in the application of injury management and prevention through rigorous academic and hands-on assignments. This position will create informative and engaging lesson plans for their subjects and implementing those plans in the classroom. High school teachers will provide a rigorous learning environment for their students, helping them develop as individuals as well as master the subjects they need to succeed. Emphasis in classroom on the Paideia Methodology and STEM focus. Collaborate with instructional teams and administrators to increase student learning and positive, nurturing environment . Primary Responsibilities: Effectively interacts, communicates, and collaborates with students, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders to foster student learning. Establishes a safe, supportive, positive, and productive learning and working environment. Demonstrates a variety of 21st century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers. Designs and facilitates engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate to prepare students for a 21st century global, knowledge-based society. Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; analyzes assessment data in relation to student learning and develops instructional strategies to close the learning and performance gap; evaluates contributions in group projects. Develops students' creative and practical problem-solving skills related to relevant materials and processes of the industry. Organizes classroom and laboratory areas for daily instruction. Instructs and coaches students in the rudiments of obtaining and retaining a job; stays informed of current entry job requirements; completes job references for students when requested. Identifies and maintains relationships with health care partners in the community to provide students with clinical experiences; coordinates and schedules school-to-work opportunities. Serves as clinical instructor to student athletic trainers that provide hands-on assistance to student athletes. Travels to various healthcare facilities to supervise students during school-to-work assignments. Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, competency forms, discipline reports, etc. Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. Selects, requests, and maintains an inventory of instructional aides, technology tools, equipment, and supplies needed for daily activities; provides for safe storage and proper use of all materials, equipment and tools. Hold conferences with parents and guardians as needed. Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in while meeting course and school-wide student performance goals. Create projects designed to enhance teaching subject material and Paideia. Key Competencies: Bachelor's degree in specific area of education. Hold and maintain state certification in content area or ability to participate in alternative certification program, preferably certified athletic trainer with a minimum of three years' experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties. Valid South Carolina nursing license. Master's Degree preferred. Highly confidential with student related material.
