THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a Crisis Int ervention Worker (CIW) to join our team. The CIW will provide direct intervention and support services to youth living in the Oak Park area. This rewarding role requires strong problem-solving skills, resilience, conflict resolution, compassion, and adaptability. CIWs will provide youth mentorship through programs promoting life-skills development. They are expected to offer individualized support, advocacy, and connection to resources. In addition to case management, the CIW will respond to crises in the community-responding to and resourcing those impacted. We believe that every young person deserves a chance at success! This is an exciting opportunity for someone who not only wants to make a difference in the lives of young people but also enjoys working with creative individuals to find innovative ways of helping youth reach their goals and dreams. RESPONSIBILITIES Serves and engages gang-involved youth or young adults between the ages of 14 and 25 in the Oak Park neighborhood Strategically plans and works with the community to decrease and eliminate the four leading causes of death among African Americans in Sacramento County; perinatal conditions, infant sleep-related deaths, child abuse and neglect, and third-party homicide Responds to violent incidents in Oak Park within 30 minutes Plans strategies to proactively engage local gangs/crews to maintain peace via safe passages and activities Works with law enforcement to ensure peace in the community Maintains an active caseload of 10-15 families Follows all phases of case management and meets with the program director weekly Assists with safe passages for youth and families within the community Conducts field work with clients to ensure connection to resources and community partners Participates in meetings and works at outreach activities/events designed for youth and families Makes home visits to assist clients and families with services needed Maintain confidentiality and proper protocol Provide positive activities to divert youth from gang involvement Participate in community outreach activities to build relationships with local organizations Other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma/GED required (current enrollment in an associate or bachelor's degree program in health, social services, and/or human services-related field is strongly preferred) Three years of experience working with communities of color, youth, or gang populations Proven ability to interact positively with diverse groups and client populations with varying educational and economic backgrounds, particularly gang-affiliated individuals Proficient at managing and documenting community contacts in a timely manner Valid California Driver's License, insurance, and reliable transportation Demonstrated integrity and ability to work independently without supervision Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite Strong written and oral communication skills Written and oral fluency in a second language is desirable Job Posted by ApplicantPro
