Midland University, a private liberal arts University, located in Fremont, Nebraska is seeking a Student Accommodations Specialist. The Student Accommodations Specialist position is a full-time, professional position within the Division of Student Affairs. With guidance from the VP for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer, this position will support campus with determining and providing reasonable accommodations for qualified students with disabilities, including offering education and support for faculty and staff to facilitate equal access to programs and services for students. This role will also provide support for division-wide reporting efforts (co-curricular assessment, Clery report data collection, division key performance indicators). Essential Functions Review documentation and approves reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Manage a caseload of students with documented disabilities to support academic and personal success including on-going meetings to support students through their educational experience at Midland. This includes maintaining accurate and confidential records. Coordinate accommodations for each student which includes, but is not limited to, accessible texts, classroom accommodations, and accessible technology. Communicates with students and campus partners to establish or maintain reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Maintain current knowledge of assistive technologies in addition to working knowledge of Apple iPad assistive features. Collaborate with the Director of Student and Resident Services in the review of medical documentation for housing accommodations, including Emotional Support Animal (ESA) and Service Animal requests. Collaborate with Athletic Training staff to ensure academic accommodations for concussion protocol. Build trainings and resources to support faculty and staff with delivering programming and services that are accessible to all students. Serve as the primary point of contact for students on all disability-related programs, policies, and procedures. Supports and participates in co-curricular learning assessment and reporting efforts. Coordinate metrics and data support gathering for Division key performance indicators. Coordinate the Clery report submission for Midland University in collaboration with campus partners. Other special projects as assigned at the discretion of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with people with disabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail. Must possess a high level of ethical behavior and impartiality. Skilled at working independently. Must have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusiveness. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students with disabilities in a higher education setting Working knowledge of legal policy regarding disabilities, specifically Section 504 and ADAAA. Compensation: Midland University offers participation in a fully-insured medical/prescription plan with a Health Savings Account, life and long-term disability insurance, 403b retirement option and educational benefits for both the employee and his/her dependents.
