JOB SUMMARY: The Kitchen/Dining Assistant is responsible for assisting the Lead Cook in preparing and serving the meals for scheduled events at the Retreat Center as well as perform other general kitchen and dining duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Implements the Archdiocese's mission and philosophy as it relates to the goals of the Retreat Center. Maintains a professional, compassionate and welcoming attitude toward staff, volunteers, and guests. Follows directives of the Lead Cook regarding station assignment and specific duties. Assists in the upkeep, cleanliness and neatness of the kitchen, dining room and pantry areas. Assists in the preparation of meals in an efficient way in accord with the Lead Cook's directives. Maintains sanitary work stations and understands and complies with Parish/State/Federal health codes. Assists the Lead Cook in the restocking of inventory supplies. Practices proper safety protocol while handling kitchen equipment. Cleans and sanitizes dining area, pantry and kitchen area including all dishes and utensils after each use. Monitors food levels on buffet and ensures that food is delivered and served on time. Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and equipment Knowledge of Parish/State/Federal regulations and guidelines Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred 2 years experience in the food service industry Necessary certifications required by the state Preference will be giving to those who follow the tenets of the Catholic faith.
