S ummary The primary responsibilities of the Commercial Manager are managing the sales and purchase areas of the company by expanding end market segments for a portfolio of functional ingredients and for purchasing and negotiating contracts for raw materials and supplies, ensuring supply chain is optimally utilized at all times by performing the following duties personally or through assigned personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Food Safety - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote food safety; applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality. Negotiating contracts for raw materials from slaughterhouses, equipment, and supplies. Regularly interact with existing customer and supplier base including visits, product presentations, and finished product application research Develop new customers and suppliers while expanding market segments and product offerings while maintaining m argin / spread management criteria Develop an educational base on blood / blood product functionalities (relating to processing, safety, hygienic standards, regulatory framework, market applications, functional and nutritional properties) Conduct research to ascertain market trends and needs forecasting while evaluating demand for products and/or services, and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors and forecasting price trends and their impact on future negotiations, activities, etc. Coordinate all raw material product requirements, domestic and abroad, including inventory management, purchase order processing, order fulfillment plan, maintenance of contract pricing, and supply reports. Improve all support and service systems, insuring consistency and implementation across group lines. Work independently and with customer and supplier R&D groups to perform niche market application research and develop and understand suitable uses and labeling options for ingredients. Conduct project management including arranging customer feeding trials, university research, production testing, stabilization, customer acceptance, etc. Interact with regulatory group(s) to determine potential ingredient applications and obtain any necessary registrations and permits. Ensure responsible inventory levels and accurately illustrate the relationship between actual and forecasts, history and annual budget volumes. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from four year college or university in animal nutrition, food technology, or similar, AND Minimum of 2-3 years or more of related experience, preferable in a food or petfood B2B environment. Ability to travel internationally and maintain valid travel documents such as a passport or VISA. Preferred Qualifications Animal Nutrition, pet food ingredient or commercial feed ingredient experience Knowledge of specialty style products and markets Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and display solid follow up techniques. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional problem solving & organizational skills; works proactively , able to multi-task . Experience working with regulatory departments and agencies for imports and exports. Proficient computer skills. Physical Demands Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally walk, stand, balance, stoop, bend and kneel. Occasionally must push, pull, move or lift up to 10 lbs. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Work Environment Job functions will be carried out in an office environment and requires frequent travel.
