To maintain and oversee maintenance of the Credit Union's accounting records and reports, insuring they are in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and credit union accounting practices. Evaluate and give feedback for work within the Accounting Department. The following duties are typical for this position and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Duties 1. Ensure all financial related activities are performed in an accurate, timely and effective manner. Prepare financial statements and reports. 2. Responsible for completion of and accuracy of all accounting functions. Some of which are: review, acceptance, and management of all reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, regulatory reports and schedules such as tax reporting, month-end close process, and CECL model reporting and evaluation. Also includes FASB 91, lease accounting, fixed assets, and other general accounting functions. 3. Gathering documents to support auditor and examiner inquiries. Holding discussions with auditors and examiners. Provide management responses to audit and exam findings, update internal procedures, and enact management responses. 4. Analyze financial reports and records, making studies or recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures. Report and analyze branch profitability. 5. Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. 6. Ensure all investment accounts are balanced. Manage investment portfolio documentation. 7. Work with CFO to understand and interpret Asset Liability Management Reporting and assumptions, and ALM data collection. 8. The ability to efficiently collect data necessary and accurately complete 5300 NCUA reports in a timely manner. Useable. 5300 backup that is easily reconciled to call report. Ability to know what tools are best for each given situation. 9. Conduct special studies and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures. Communicate with, and present to, management in support of and working with them to perpetuate strategies and improve financial presence. 10. Coordinate accounting matters with Data Analyst and other departments and locations in the credit union, and automation. 11. Team training of Accounting Department employees. Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Experience: At least three years of higher level of accounting, preferably in financial institutions or related experience. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Other Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office application skills specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook. Detailed oriented and accurate. Experience with automated data processing systems including PC software programs and mainframe system.
