Position Summary: To begin learning Laclede standards for the CNC Technician position. This is one step of a three-step process to qualify for this position which includes but not limited to: sets up and operates numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the following duties Key Duties and Responsibilities: Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences. Ability to operate manual shop equipment - mills, laths, surface grinders, welding equipment, heat treat, Rockwell testing ect Qualified to operate precision measuring devices - calipers, inside/ outside micrometers, dial indicators, edge finders, etc. Ability to identify types of programing, conversational and text (G &M code) and the ability to turn on machines in both programs Basic knowledge of mathematics, formulas, sequence of steps in manufacturing tooling to produce programs from start to finish Be familiar with machine control screens (computers). Ability to navigate between screens and where programs are located for different machine types (numerical sequences ) Core Competencies: Problem Solving skills Technical skills Customer Service Interpersonal Skills Communication Skills-Oral and Written Ability to work as a team or individually Good work ethic-efficient, effective, accurate, organized, conscientious, dependability, punctual, etc... Meets Company standards (i.e. goals and objectives, production quotas, project deadlines, etc...) and with high quality Adaptability-changes in the work environment, production demands, priorities, methods, direction, etc... Takes initiative Innovative/Resourceful Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school Or at least 1-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, diagrams, blueprints, sketches, engineering specifications, and procedure manuals. Understanding of conversational and text (G&M code) Ability to run manual shop equipment. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Demonstrated math skills relating to the job - geometry, angle formula, ect Demonstrated troubleshooting and reasoning ability Must follow appropriate safety precautions and protocols Must have experience using measuring instruments such calipers, Inside/ outside micrometers, ect Physical Demands/Work Environment: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, or crawl Frequently required to climb or balance Must be able to lift 25lbs, at times may be asked to lift more Specific Vision Requirements-close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust to focus Environment is non-climate controlled Production floor is typically loud Must wear required PPE
